Flashdance will open PesaroFF59 to mark its 40th anniversary
Adrian Lyne's film will open the 59th edition of the Festival on the evening of Saturday, June 17.
On the occasion of its successful release in U.S. theaters 40 years later, the Pesaro Nuovo Cinema Foundation announces that Flashdance will also return to the big screen in Italy as the opening film of the 59th edition of the Mostra Internazionale del Nuovo Cinema.
Celebrating the 40th anniversary of its theatrical release, the film that was an incredible worldwide box office success by launching the new pair of producers, Don Simpson and Jerry Bruckheimer, comes to the festival. Flashdance marked an era and the pop culture of the 1980s, entering the collective imagination also for its feminine declination of the American dream, directed by Adrian Lyne and starring a very young Jennifer Beals, in the role of the unforgettable Alex Owens, whom Nanni Moretti wanted to meet live in his Dear Diary accompanied by the famous monologue: "...Actually, my dream has always been to know how to dance well... Flashdance was called that film that definitively changed my life..."
A story that made a generation dream, dictated styles and fashions, and brought the general public closer to the world of dance, with a soundtrack signed by the master of electronic music Giorgio Moroder, with the song Flashdance... What a feeling, Oscar® winner for best song performed by Irene Cara, who recently passed away.
