To commemorate the passing of one of the few Italian women directors of the 20th century, Lina Wertmüller, the Festival proposes one of her most successful grotesque comedies, including internationally, in the Square: Seven Beauties received four Oscars nominations. Accompanied by the music score of Enzo Jannacci, the director’s favourite actor, Giancarlo Giannini, plays a role that fits in the (also literary) tradition of the portraiture of the average Italian male: the young delinquent, the only son in a family composed of mother and seven ugly sisters, is determined to accomplish some feat that assures him "honor and respect".
