«The Pizza Triangle is a frankly agreeable product in which a humorous script, thanks to Scola, found the right visual dimension, not least effective in terms of (non-trivial) entertainment. On the contrary, the grotesque style of tragicomedy manages to embrace penetrant notes of psychology and mores, both individual and social; not to mention the fortunate idea, carried throughout the film, of having the characters speak and behave like the ‘heroes’ of a ‘working-class melodrama’ peppered with pathetic phrases typical of romance novelettes and cheap feuilletons. [...] Opposite funnily irruent Giannini star Monica Vitti, whose acting is at times excellent, at other times a little too kittenish, and Mastroianni, who does a fine job of portraying a blue collar who lives his life as a comic strip.
