This short film, shot using the Pixilation technique, represents a tribute to the great Italian 20th-century artists of the Ramo Collection. From Giorgio De Chirico to Bruno Munari, from Giacomo Balla to Domenico Gnoli, the works of the artists blend together creating original and magical animations.
“My hands appear into frame giving life to a dialogue both ‘inside and outside’ between the film director and the works of art, creating a private and solitary game between the film and I. I used the Pixilation technique, i.e. a stop-motion technique where live actors are used, to surprise the audience with the magical apparitions of the beautiful illustrations that make up the historical and cultural memory of the Italian 20th century. Therefore, these animated phantasmagorias aspire to celebrate the passages from a drawing to the next, to invent hallucinatory surprises out of nothing, and let the viewer into the machine of wonder.”
