Isolated in a house on an Italian island, a couple strugglesto find the bond that once united them and asthey attempt to connect with each other, they discover that traditional forms of communication prevent them from connecting on a deeper level. They eventually invent their own form of communication. “Neolovismo is marked by a strongly autobiographical component. We took advantage of our unique situation with no way of knowing in just over a year every couple on the planet would be faced with the intimate interpersonal challengeswewere dealingwith. Born in Italy in 1987, Susanna Della Sala is a writer, director and artist. She graduated at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia of Rome. She wrote and directed the short The Fish Doctor and won best foreign short at the Lady Filmmakers Festival Los Angeles. She wrote and directed the short Wasteplanet produced by the dance film company COORPI based in Turin. In 2019 she wrote, directed and performed in the independent film Neolovismo together with film-maker Mike Bruce. She’s now working on the feature documentary Last Stop Before Chocolate Mountain and directing the short Wig. Susanna also works as an artist and had her first art show at the Bombay Beach Biennale, California, in 2019.
Mike Bruce (California, USA, 1969) is a film director, writer, and producer. Bruce began his career playing bass for Low Flying Owls. In 2005, he made his first feature The Legend of God’s Gun (Calgary Film Festival), defined “a psychedelic spaghetti western”. His second film, Treasure of the Black Jaguar, won the Distribution Award at the Raindance Film Festival and Best Cinematography Award at First Glance Film Festival Hollywood. Bruce’s video for Noel Gallagher’s‘AKA...What a Life!’ made the Top 20 Most Awesome Videos of 2011 on Yahoo. In 2018, hewrote and directed Stranded on the Earth for Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. In 2019, he directed and performed in the independent film Neolovismo together with film-maker Susanna Della Sala.
