Carmela lives day by day trying to make a living with little gigs and scarce ambitions. One day,she bumps into a possibly good business on behalf of a lawyer with the clandestine immigrants who live in the alleys of Naples. She has been a slightly careless mother and, now that Maria is eleven years old, she wants to redeem herself. She wants to take on responsibilities and experience motherhood fully. When she meets Tarek, an Algerian forty-year-old,she involves him in her own struggle to find a balance, a life.
