“It is not enough to collect the remains of the shipwreck. We must install, in the midst of the ruins, the marks of obsession" (Maria Negroni, El corazón del daño). In search of traces and imprints of an absence, this film examines the coexistence between nature and man-made structures or artifacts, to deliver a formal object of commemoration. An obscure celebration of the surface of a fractured and exhausted world, what could have been a city symphony evokes instead the feeling of a mausoleum for our present existence. “Vibrant Matter”, a title based on a possible definition of cinema, is the portrait of a world that just is, between dream and desolation.
