In 1900, Lili d'Alengy, a famous Parisian courtesan, conceals a shameful secret – a daughter born with a disability, something that threatens her career. She leaves for Rome, where she meets Maria Montessori, a doctor who developed a revolutionary learning method for children. But Maria was hiding a secret too. Together, the two women help each other to win their place in a man's world and thus make history.
Léa Todorov (Paris 1982) is an author, director, and producer. Co-founder of the production company Elinka Films. La Nouvelle Femme is her debut feature-length fiction film.
