A hand becomes the protagonist in a piece that, from a macro viewpoint, outlines a city seen as a tactile scenario, with different women working on artisan crafts. Cada gesto is an audiovisual portrait that perceives the city of Barcelona departing from the footprint and inner life of its workshops, in which the noises and sounds are just as important as the visuals to make the viewer ‘feel’ the gestures of forgotten arts and crafts.
Valentina Alvarado Matos is an artist who focuses on collage, seen as a vessel that contains many forms, such as paper, film, ceramics, and a range of media. She perceives the image and its materiality from a perspective that revolves around identity in the diaspora, landscape, and gesture. She was an artist-in-residence at Hangar - Matadero Madrid and has recently inaugurated an exhibition with Carlos Vásquez Méndez at La Capella in Barcelona and “Totalmente rostro” at La Virreina Centre de la Imatge.
