With the presence of the Art Director of the APEW—ODV Nunzia Invernizzi and Riccardo Bernini
The Associazione Premio Eleanor Worthington is a volunteering organization based in Urbino. Its mission is to raise disability awareness by way of two Awards among students enrolled in Italian Art High Schools and students of schools and art courses at undergraduate level in Italy, Great Britain, and Ireland.
The award privileges the language of the visual arts.
It was established in 2009 in memory of Eleanor Worthington, a severely impaired Anglo-Italian girl.
The family, friends, and School wanted to turn her individual experience in a collective one, in order to raise awareness of the problems that affect disabled people and their families, and to promote the removal of various barriers [that] may hinder their full and effective participation in society on an equal basis with others (United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, signed by Italy in 2009, Art. 1).
In 2013, the Associazione Eleanor Worthington launched a free-admission film retrospective at the Cinema Nuova Luce in Urbino. Three films are chosen and presented by Riccardo Bernini every March and November, based on themes related to disability.
