LA DONNA DELLA DOMENICA (Italy/France, 1975, 105’) by Luigi Comencini
The Magic Screen is back in Pesaro, at the beach of Bagni Agata, with a ‘new’ programme of 35mm projections, organized in agreement with the Cineteca Nazionale – National Film School of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia. The selected movies, among those available on 35mm film, follow a chronological order to highlight the career of actors Walter Chiari (Verona, March 8, 1924 – Milan, December 20, 1991) and Marcello Mastroianni (Fontana Liri, September 26, 1924 – Paris, December 19, 1996) and therefore embrace their last performances, such as Chiari’s Traces of an Amorous Life (1990) directed by Peter Del Monte. The programme also intends to pay homage to Paolo Taviani (San Miniato, November 8, 1931 – Rome, February 29, 2024) who, alongside his brother Vittorio (San Miniato, September 20, 1929 – Rome, April 15, 2018), directed Marcello Mastroianni in Allonsafàn (1974). This is a commemoration of two filmmakers who attended the Pesaro Film Festival since its early years. The Special Event of the 40th festival, curated by Vito Zagarrio in 2004, was dedicated to the directing duo precisely twenty years ago.
